Europe's midsize car segment rose 16% in the first half, driven by China-built models from Tesla, BYD and Mazda that filled gaps left by departing European brands such as Renault and Peugeot. Within the broader European market, the Tesla Model Y sold about 111,000 units in the first half, up 59.0% year over year, climbing to the No. 2 spot among all models. The result underscores how Tesla's rebound in Europe — after two straight annual declines — is being powered by higher fuel prices, government incentives and growing consumer interest in electric vehicles, even as registrations remain uneven month to month.
