Zimbabwe police said in a statement on the 16th that the death toll from a boat capsizing on Lake Kariba in northern Zimbabwe on the 11th has risen to 84.
A total of 77 people have been rescued. Police said some people remain missing and the search continues.
The vessel capsized on the afternoon of the 11th amid strong winds.
President Mnangagwa declared the incident a "national disaster" on the 12th and ordered relevant departments to provide necessary assistance to the victims' families.
Lake Kariba lies on the border between Zimbabwe and Zambia and is rich in hydropower and fisheries resources. For a long time, lakeside residents have relied on boat transport to travel between remote fishing communities.
