Overseas EV Market Grows 30.3% in First Half of 2026, Led by Europe and Asia

SNE Research reports overseas EV deliveries rose 30.3% in H1 2026 to 4.598 million units, led by Europe and non-Chinese Asia, far outpacing the global average expansion.

Global electric vehicle (BEV + PHEV) deliveries outside China reached 4,598,000 units in the first half of 2026, up 30.3% from 3,529,000 a year earlier, according to SNE Research's July 2026 tracker released on August 10. The growth far outpaced the 5.5% expansion of the total global EV market. By region, Europe led with 2,528,000 units (+29.0%, 55.0% of non-China sales), while non-Chinese Asia surged 75.8% to 933,000 units as India and Thailand accelerated. North America was the outlier, falling 20.5% to 681,000 units after the expiration of U.S. EV tax credits. Among manufacturers, Volkswagen led with 635,000 units, Tesla followed at 599,000 (+31.0%), and BYD ranked third with 497,000 (+81.4%). Chinese brands including Geely (+47.0%) and Chery (+350.7%) posted the steepest gains overseas.
