Spain's electric-vehicle market is undergoing a structural shift led by Chinese manufacturers. In the first seven months of 2026, BYD registered 9,645 BEVs to top Spain's pure-electric ranking for the first time, just ahead of Tesla's 9,383. Leapmotor's B10 was the single best-selling EV model in July with 506 registrations. Across the period, roughly 17,300 of the 67,700 BEVs sold in Spain — about one in four — were made in China. Spain's BEV share crossed 10% in July for the first time, with government subsidies of up to 4,500 euros under the Auto+ plan supporting demand. Analysts say Asian brands have moved from "exotic option" to mainstream choice in the Spanish market.
