LONDON, Aug 17 (Xinhua) -- The UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) said in a notice on the 17th that a cargo ship was hijacked by a group of armed individuals in waters south of Mareyo, Somalia.
The incident occurred about 4 nautical miles (approximately 7.4 km) south of Mareyo. The vessel's crew reported that eight armed men boarded and took control of the ship.
UKMTO said relevant authorities are investigating the incident and advised vessels in the area to transit with caution and report any suspicious activity.
