Excluding China, global deliveries of electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles reached 4.598 million units in the first half of 2026, up 30.3% year over year, according to market researcher SNE Research. Volkswagen Group led with 635,000 deliveries (+7.6%) but saw its share slip to 13.8%; Tesla ranked second at 599,000 (+31%); BYD was third at 497,000 (+81.4%), lifting its share from 7.8% to 10.8%. By region, Europe remained the largest non-China market at 2.528 million (+29%), while non-China Asia jumped 75.8% to 933,000 and the rest of the world surged 150.6% to 456,000. North America was the lone decline at 681,000 (-20.5%).
