Over the past weekend, multiple shootings across the United States left several people dead and injured.
In New York, a shooting in Brooklyn in the early hours of the 16th left a woman dead from a back wound and a man injured. Witnesses said a crowd had gathered at an intersection and an argument broke out; the suspect is still being sought.
In Kentucky, a shooting in Lexington on the 15th killed one person and injured four, including a 4-year-old child and a 14-year-old. An investigation is ongoing.
At Virginia State University, a shooting outside a dormitory in the early hours of the 15th left five people with gunshot wounds, one in critical condition; police arrested a 19-year-old man.
According to the Gun Violence Archive, as of Aug 16, 8,144 people have died from gun violence in the United States this year, with more than 15,000 injured.
