On November 5, the Chengyu (Chengdu-Chongqing) Intelligent Connected New Energy Vehicle industrial cluster was selected for the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology's annual national advanced manufacturing cluster list, entering the national 'first team' of advanced manufacturing clusters.
The inclusion coincided with a wave of upbeat October data: BYD disclosed October NEV sales of 490,168 units, up 11% year on year and a record high for the year, leading disclosed Chinese automaker groups; and the CPCA reported October national NEV wholesale at about 1.807 million units, up 12% with penetration reaching 68.6%, a historic high. Analysts say the cluster designation reinforces the western region's role as a systemic NEV manufacturing base.
