On October 11, Nvidia and OpenAI announced a strategic partnership in which Nvidia plans to invest up to $100 billion in OpenAI and deploy at least 10 GW of AI compute systems. The first phase of the project is expected to start in the second half of 2026 based on Nvidia's next-generation Vera Rubin platform — one of the largest compute collaborations in AI history to date.
Also on October 11, Alibaba's Qwen platform announced that the Qwen-Image-2.1 Pro and Turbo APIs are officially live, allowing developers to integrate image generation and editing capabilities into applications without self-hosted models, covering design, e-commerce and content creation. The Turbo version's weights were simultaneously open-sourced.
In robotics, UBTech and C&D Corp signed an agreement in Xiamen to build a joint venture — the "U-Ecosystem Technology Center Fujian headquarters" — targeting sales of no fewer than 10,000 UBTech humanoid robots by 2030, pushing embodied intelligence toward large-scale implementation in real industrial scenarios. The moves come as China's humanoid-robot sector shifts from exhibition halls to batch commercialization.
