Alibaba released its 2026 AI for Good Action Report on November 5, framing AI development around three conditions: socially acceptable, environmentally bearable and economically sustainable. The report covers six areas with 26 application cases, including multi-cancer screening and evidence-based medicine assistants.
On sustainability, Alibaba Cloud said its data-center computing density rose from about 0.8 kW per square meter two years ago to 4.5 kW per square meter, targeting 9 kW per square meter by end-March 2027. Clean-power share of its self-built data centers reached 73.6% over the past year, with an average WUE of 1.198 liters per kWh and 135,858 cubic meters of reclaimed water recycled.
