The 2026 World Internet Conference Wuzhen Summit closed on November 5, with delegates from 138 countries and regions attending and 671 enterprises from 54 countries releasing more than 1,000 new technologies and products.
For the first time the conference issued the 'Initiative on Jointly Building an Open Global Artificial Intelligence,' proposing 18 action items across openness and development, security and trustworthiness, dialogue and governance, and mutual benefit and inclusiveness, positioning openness as public infrastructure and the starting point for global AI governance. The meeting signaled that global AI governance is moving from principles into written, actionable steps.
