YIWU, Zhejiang, Aug. 2026 - CCTV News reported from Yiwu International Trade City that export orders are fully booked through August 2026, with many factories operating at maximum capacity. The surge is driven by multiple converging demand factors: extreme summer heat across the Northern Hemisphere driving cooling product sales, the ongoing 2026 FIFA World Cup sustaining sports merchandise demand, and the explosive growth of AI-powered consumer electronics.
Yiwu merchants are actively diversifying their market exposure. While traditional markets in Europe and North America remain important, the fastest growth is coming from emerging markets: the Middle East, Africa, Southeast Asia, and Latin America. One merchant reported that sales volumes had increased 3-4 times compared to the previous year, with monthly shipments of 500-600 containers.
The "anti-seasonal" ordering pattern continues to define Yiwu's trade rhythm: Christmas products ordered in summer, summer products ordered in winter, and World Cup merchandise ordered a year in advance. This forward-ordering mechanism, enabled by Yiwu's supply chain reliability, gives global buyers confidence to commit early. The Yiwu Global Digital Trade Center has become a hub where AI tools, including translation glasses and smart design software, are transforming how small merchants conduct international business.
