BEIJING, Aug. 1, 2026 - China's major new energy vehicle manufacturers released their July 2026 sales data, revealing significant market reshuffling. BYD maintained its commanding lead with 411,000 NEV wholesale units, ahead of the second-place manufacturer by over 250,000 units. The company's cumulative January-July sales reached 2,227,722 units, with overseas sales hitting 969,208 units.
Three automakers surpassed the 100,000-unit monthly threshold: Geely, Chery, and Leapmotor. Leapmotor's achievement was particularly historic, becoming the first Chinese EV startup to deliver over 100,000 units in a single month (101,267 units, up 102% YoY). The company's January-July cumulative deliveries reached approximately 457,800 units, achieving 45.78% of its ambitious one-million-unit annual target.
Among other startups: XPeng delivered 38,027 units (up 4% YoY), NIO delivered 35,934 units (up 70.98% YoY, with NIO brand at 20,008, ONVO at 10,155, and Firefly at 5,771), Li Auto delivered 30,468 units (flat YoY), and Xiaomi Auto maintained deliveries above 30,000 units. Deepal Auto reported global sales of 29,213 units (up 7.52% YoY), with cumulative sales surpassing 910,000 units.
