Europe's Nine-Country EV Sales Hit 315,600 in July, Up 41% Year Over Year

Europe's nine key markets registered 315,600 new energy vehicles in July 2026, a 41.1% increase from a year earlier, with a 37.6% penetration rate. France led the surge with an 85.4% jump to 51,900 units after it restarted its third-phase eco-purchase subsidy; Germany rose 44.1% to 109,200; and the UK gained 40.5% to 66,500. For the first seven months, the nine countries totaled 2.18 million NEVs, up 37.0% year on year. Analysts now expect full-year European EV sales of more than 5.4 million units, a 35% gain, as subsidy programs in France, Germany and the UK continue to pull demand forward.
