Germany's BEV registrations jumped 61.7% in July to 78,609, lifting the pure-EV share to 29.3% of new cars.

Pure battery-electric cars took a 29.3% share of Germany's new-car market in July 2026, up from 18.1% a year earlier, after BEV registrations jumped 61.7% to 78,609 units, the Federal Motor Transport Authority reported. For the first seven months, 446,615 BEVs were registered, a 50.2% increase, meaning better than one in four new cars was fully electric. Volkswagen led both the overall alternative-powertrain segment and the BEV list, followed by Skoda and BMW.
