China Becomes World's First to Implement National Solid-State Battery Standard for EVs

   2026-08-09 BaiduIndustry News00

On July 1, 2026, China officially implemented GB/T 43568-2026, the world's first national standard for solid-state batteries used in electric vehicles, establishing China's leadership in next-generation battery technology regulation.

BEIJING, July 1, 2026 - China officially implemented national standard GB/T 43568-2026, titled "Solid-State Batteries for Electric Vehicles - Part 1: Terminology and Classification," marking the world's first national standard specifically for automotive solid-state batteries. This landmark regulation effectively positions China as the global authority in defining what constitutes "all-solid-state" battery technology.

The standard comes as CATL (Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited) continues to push the boundaries of battery innovation. In early 2026, CATL unveiled its next-generation 5C ultra-fast charging long-life battery technology, breaking through the long-standing "impossible triangle" of power battery performance. Under ideal conditions at 20°C, the battery achieves 3,000 charge cycles, with a condensed-state solid-state battery variant reaching an energy density of 500Wh/kg - approximately 2.8 times that of standard LFP batteries.

CATL's condensed-state solid-state battery supports CLTC ranges of 1,200-1,500km for passenger vehicles, with 4C fast charging capability enabling 10-80% charge in 15 minutes. After 2,000 cycles, capacity retention remains above 82%, theoretically supporting 3 million kilometers of driving. CATL has also partnered with Alfen to deploy 5 GWh of sodium-ion battery storage in Europe.
