At the 2026 Chery Global Innovation Conference in Wuhu, the automaker laid out its "Yaoguang 2035" plan and repositioned itself from a traditional carmaker toward an AI-driven global smart-technology company. Chery disclosed solid-state-battery progress: its Rhino S solid-state cell reaches an energy density of 400Wh/kg, operates from minus 40 to 100 degrees Celsius and passed a 200°C hot-box test, with a pilot line scheduled to go live in 2027.
Chery also launched three Zwei chips series, with 8-inch wafers entering mass production and costs cut by more than 30%, covering its full platform. The conference underscored how Chinese brands are pushing core components in-house.
In Europe, Leapmotor's B10 began volume production at Stellantis' Zaragoza plant in Spain, and its first independent battery factory in Europe — run by the Leap team — also started output; the B05 is set to follow in early 2027, marking a new normal for Chinese NEVs building local supply chains abroad.
On the volume side, the Wuling Hongguang MINIEV rolled off its two-millionth unit, a milestone for China's most iconic low-cost electric city car, even as the market segments above it reshape around intelligent features.
