During the 2026 World Intelligent Connected Vehicle Conference in Beijing, the National Artificial Intelligence Industry Application Pilot Base (automotive direction), led by China Mobile, released the industry's first automotive AI base, offering integrated compute, data and model capabilities to the entire industry.
The base has brought 112.7 EFLOPS of computing power under unified management, covering four domains - R&D, manufacturing, intelligent driving and evaluation - and providing capabilities such as styling design, process planning, visual quality inspection, intelligent operations and maintenance, and smart-driving data generation. Carmakers can tap these on demand without building their own infrastructure.
At the same conference, MIIT High-Tech Department deputy director-general Chen Yancheng said the ministry will keep advancing core technologies for intelligent connected vehicles - next-generation general AI, smart-driving large models and vehicle cooperative perception and decision-making - while deepening cross-domain fusion that uses NEVs as the carrier for AI, new materials and new energy, and strengthening enterprise innovation and international cooperation.
Shanghai, meanwhile, issued an action plan on October 23 for AI empowering industrial services in 2027-2028, including full-process collaborative workbenches for fashion consumer goods and automotive R&D to shorten product development cycles.
