Contemporary Amperex Technology (CATL) has moved its 20Ah sulfide solid-state battery cell into pilot production, with large-scale mass output targeted for 2030, according to industry reports on Oct. 30.
The disclosure comes as Chinese battery and automakers race to trial solid-state lines. At a recent industry event, an academic cautioned that no truly industrialized full-solid-state battery product is yet on the market, urging correction of hype.
Upstream materials are also advancing: Xiamen Tungsten's high-purity lithium sulfide pilot line has landed, helping fill a gap in solid-state supply chains.
Analysts describe a clear 'time-lag' pattern in the sector: near-term share gains come from vehicle exports, while long-term positioning depends on frontier technology reserves such as solid-state cells.
