CATL, the world's largest electric vehicle battery manufacturer, has unveiled its latest generation of ultra-fast charging battery technology -- the Shenxing 6C battery -- capable of delivering approximately 510 km of range in just 10 minutes of charging. The new battery achieves a record 6C charging rate, meaning it can charge from 10% to 80% capacity in approximately 10 minutes under optimal conditions. The Shenxing 6C features improved lithium-ion migration technology and a new cathode material composition that reduces internal resistance by 30%. CATL claims the battery offers a cycle life of over 3,000 charge cycles while maintaining 80% capacity retention. The company states the Shenxing 6C is compatible with existing 800V high-voltage platforms and can be integrated into most EV architectures without major vehicle redesign. Mass production is scheduled to begin in Q1 2027, with CATL already signing supply agreements with multiple major global automakers.
