On October 28, XPeng Group vice president Gu Jie revealed at the Society of Automotive Engineers annual conference (SAECCE) embodied-intelligence robotics forum that XPeng has debuted a robot-specific solid-state battery and completed small-batch mass production, with the whole machine now at the final stage before SOP (start of production), People's Finance reported.
The solid-state pack is purpose-built for humanoid and embodied robots, addressing the energy-density and safety constraints that have limited legged robots' runtime. Bringing the battery to small-batch offline closes a key gap in the robotics energy supply chain and opens a new application赛道 for solid-state chemistry beyond vehicles.
XPeng's move comes as Chinese battery makers push beyond conventional LFP and ternary cells: CATL, Gotion, Chery and SAIC have all flagged 2027 as a validation year for solid-state and semi-solid-state packs, while SVOLT's 100 kWh semi-solid-state pack recently rolled off line in Changzhou.
The development shows solid-state batteries moving from automotive roadmaps into the embodied-intelligence sector, providing critical support for the commercial deployment of humanoid robots.
