At the 2026 World Internet Conference Leading Science and Technology Award ceremony in Wuzhen on November 2, 20 achievements were honored, including the 'Jiuzhang-4' photonic quantum computing prototype. The awards — drawn from 430-plus submissions across 43 countries and regions — spanned basic research, key technologies and engineering, covering quantum computing, artificial intelligence, space-air information and agent productivity platforms.
The selections highlighted the themes of 'intelligent leadership, digital-real integration and a solid foundation.' The Jiuzhang series, developed by the University of Science and Technology of China, has repeatedly set world records for quantum computational advantage.
Its recognition reflects China's front-runner position in next-generation computing that underpins AI's future scaling, as the country races to build the computing base for the intelligent era alongside domestic AI chips and supernodes.
