China's new-energy commercial vehicle (CV) exports continued to grow this year as domestic companies move beyond simple vehicle exports toward localized manufacturing, delivery and operations, People's Daily Online reports.
Data from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers shows commercial vehicle exports reached 1.039 million units in the first nine months, up 38.8% year on year, of which new-energy commercial vehicles totaled 93,000 units, up 45.5%.
Speedata's eTopas 600 — its first pure-electric tractor aimed at Europe — rolled off the line at the Steyr Automotive plant in Austria in July and has entered markets including Germany, the Netherlands, Austria, Poland and the Czech Republic. At September's IAA Transportation in Hannover, the company also signed a memorandum with DHL to explore intelligent and automated trucking. Industry observers say building local manufacturing, operations and service loops is how Chinese CV makers will win the next round of international competition.
