China's intelligent economy is brimming with vitality, with the core AI industry now exceeding 1 trillion yuan in scale as the country advances its "AI+" action plan, reported People's Daily.
AI agents have become a key entry point for putting AI to practical use. At Longyuan Power, a 100-billion-parameter power-generation model named "Qingyuan" has deployed equipment-inspection agents across more than 100 wind farms; turbines now "self-diagnose" via vibration, temperature and power data, identifying over 2,600 defects with sharply improved accuracy and efficiency.
At the State Grid, 18,000 maintenance staff are paired with "AI buddies," cutting single-station inspection time from 2.5 hours to 45 minutes. In Shenzhen, 75 "digital employees" at the power supply bureau cover production, operations and marketing.
"What users really pay for is not 'can you do it' but 'can you get the job done,'" said Baidu founder Robin Li, noting AI is shifting from chat tools to "digital employees" and agents.
In finance, Baidu's full-stack AI capability serves more than 800 financial institutions, compressing financial-analysis tasks from hours or days to minutes — a sign that China's AI is moving from capability to industry-wide deployment.
