In mid-September tech briefings, Unitree fully open-sourced UnifoLM-WLA-1.0, a humanoid-robot base model that with a single model coordinates 64 tasks—folding clothes, tidying, taking out trash—and set a new global open-source SOTA on multiple embodied-reasoning benchmarks. The company also launched the upgraded G1+, adding a 2DOF neck, binocular-plus-wide-angle-plus-3D lidar, a 9,000mAh hot-swappable battery and far-field voice interaction, priced from 95,000 yuan.
The moves mark a shift from "well-developed limbs" to "flexible brains" in embodied intelligence. Open-sourcing the base model is widely seen as the right path to accelerate real-world deployment of humanoid robots, letting developers build on a shared foundation rather than starting from scratch.
Combined with real-world data-collection facilities where humans guide robots through daily tasks, China's robotics firms are closing the gap between choreographed performances and useful autonomous workers.
