At a September 15 State Council Information Office press conference on August economic data, the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) reported that among 286 of 626 major industrial products showing year-on-year output growth, new energy vehicles stood out.
NEV output reached 1.647 million units in August, up 21.9% year on year, underscoring resilient momentum in the sector even as overall vehicle output dipped 2.7% to 2.697 million units.
Other high-growth products highlighted the new-quality productive forces: lithium-ion battery output rose 57.2%, industrial robots 34.6% and 3D-printing equipment 29.9% year on year. Equipment-manufacturing value added grew 12.1% and high-tech manufacturing 16.7%, respectively 6.9 and 11.5 percentage points faster than overall industrial output.
Analysts said the data reflect a continued structural shift in China's industrial economy toward green and intelligent manufacturing, with NEVs a core driver of high-quality growth.
