At the 32nd APEC SME Ministerial Meeting in Guangzhou, experts highlighted how AI is creating new opportunities for small and medium-sized enterprises to innovate. A case in point: an AI solution from Guangdong enabled a Malaysian rubber processor to automate handling, cutting labor costs by 20-30%. On September 4, MIIT released a 2026-28 action plan to support AI entrepreneurship among SMEs, aiming to foster more than 10,000 technology-based innovative SMEs, over 2,000 "little giant" firms, and a number of gazelle and unicorn companies. China is also advancing AI application cooperation centers with ASEAN members, with overseas branches in Laos, Malaysia, and Vietnam already operational, promoting cross-border cooperation in large models, the data industry, and smart agriculture.
