According to Xinhua, the Cyberspace Administration of China, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and MIIT recently issued the "Digital Village High-Quality Development Action Plan (2026–2030)," proposing to expand rural digital consumption.
The plan supports new energy vehicles and green smart home appliances going to the countryside, encourages enterprises to develop intelligent software and hardware suited to rural living needs, and promotes "digital consumption empowering rural revitalization" county tours.
It also calls for improving county-level digital consumption rights-protection mechanisms to create a safe and reassuring rural digital consumption environment, and for developing convenient services such as online ordering with in-store pickup, fresh-food direct delivery and agricultural-input pre-ordering.
Analysts said the policy will open incremental space in lower-tier markets, benefiting NEV, home-appliance manufacturing and county-level commerce sectors by extending industry reach into rural areas.
