Shenzhen, September 8, 2026 — BYD disclosed in an investor-relations briefing on September 8 that it has completed its 10,000th flash-charging station in China and is targeting a year-end total of 20,000 stations.
For overseas markets, BYD is planning 6,000 flash-charging stations as part of a broader push to support an overseas-sales target of 2.5 million vehicles by 2027, the company said.
The build-out comes as BYD's domestic price war shows signs of stress — its Q1 2026 net profit fell 55.4 percent year on year to RMB 4.08 billion. Management has shifted the narrative from "price-for-volume" to technology differentiation, with its second-generation blade battery offering much faster charging times than its predecessor.
The second-generation blade battery's monthly capacity is being progressively ramped up through the second half of 2026 to meet surging demand for flash-charging models. The pivot underlines how China's largest NEV maker is using infrastructure and battery technology as its new moat in an increasingly crowded marketplace.
