Beijing, September 9, 2026 — 99, the Brazilian ride-hailing platform owned by China's DiDi, has expanded its Chinese new-energy-vehicle fleet to more than 35,000 vehicles, with cumulative mileage exceeding 200 million kilometres.
According to a People's Daily Online report, 99 is working with Chinese automakers and local charging operators to bring Chinese NEVs and the surrounding charging ecosystem into Brazil's ride-hailing market, marking a shift from pure vehicle exports to ecosystem-level deployment.
The move reflects a broader trend of Chinese NEV makers moving beyond finished-vehicle exports. Instead of simply shipping cars, manufacturers are partnering with mobility platforms, charging-network operators and local financial-service providers to deliver an integrated experience tailored to ride-hailing use cases.
Analysts said the model could serve as a template for expansion into other Latin American and Southeast Asian markets, where similar demand for affordable, low-operating-cost urban mobility exists.
