According to a Reuters report on September 8, 2026, BYD is pushing its overseas business targets to new heights. Deutsche Bank and Citi, citing a collective meeting with BYD management, reported that the company expects overseas shipments to exceed 2.5 million units in 2027, with a 2026 target of 1.9 to 2 million units.
In August 2026, BYD's overseas sales reached 189,500 units, up 134.45% year on year, setting a new monthly record and accounting for approximately 43% of total monthly sales. Cumulative overseas sales for the first eight months of 2026 reached 1.158 million units, up 85% year on year, already surpassing the full-year 2025 export figure of 1.0496 million units.
Brazil has emerged as a particularly strong growth market. BYD's registrations in Brazil reached 24,467 units in August, up approximately 149% year on year, capturing a 9.3% market share in the Brazilian passenger and light commercial vehicle market.
BYD is also expanding its overseas manufacturing footprint, with a Hungarian factory expected to begin assembly in November or December 2026, and plans to build 90,000 fast-charging stations globally by 2028.
