Apple pushed the first iOS 27.3 developer beta on November 4, bringing Apple Intelligence and Siri to China with Alibaba's Tongyi Qianwen (Qwen) as the local model. Real-time translation is integrated into Messages, FaceTime and Phone, while writing tools support rewriting, proofreading and summarization.
iPhone users can ask Qwen to draft text, create images and answer questions, with a Qwen account required on first use. The move marks the first time a domestic Chinese large model is embedded at the system level into a major global consumer device.
