Cui Dongshu, secretary-general of the Passenger Car Association, released data on November 5 showing that global NEV passenger-car sales reached 18.38 million units in the first nine months of 2026, up 15% year on year. September alone saw 2.65 million NEV sales, up 16% year on year and 18% month on month, with growth returning to a normal historical pace.
China's share of the global NEV passenger-car market reached 63% in the first three quarters, and 65.5% in the July-September period. Cui noted that global NEV demand remains steady, China's share stays high, overseas markets continue to be a source of incremental growth, and the dividend from Chinese NEV exports is still being released.
