Yiwu's cross-border e-commerce import declaration volume has surpassed 100 million orders, ranking first in the country, the November 4 Foreign Trade Morning Brief reported, citing customs data. The milestone underscores Yiwu's growing role as a gateway for imported consumer goods alongside its traditional export strength.
In a related reform, the cosmetics procurement-site inspection program added three new product categories covering nine more countries, broadening the channels through which imported beauty and personal-care goods clear customs efficiently. The adjustment is part of wider efforts to make cross-border import flows smoother while keeping oversight intact.
Combined with Yiwu's established export ecosystem and the Global Digital Trade Center, the import momentum shows the city is deepening its "buy global, sell global" model, balancing two-way trade rather than relying on outbound shipments alone.
