China's new-energy commercial-vehicle exports kept growing in 2026 as domestic firms explored localized manufacturing, delivery and operation, People's Daily Online reported on November 1. Data from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers shows January-September commercial-vehicle exports reached 1.039 million units, up 38.8%, of which new-energy commercial vehicles were 93,000, up 45.5%.
Behind the export strength is real and urgent transformation demand overseas. Under the EU's revised heavy-vehicle carbon standard, new registrations of zero-emission trucks must reach about 35% of new sales by 2030, up from 4.8% in the first half of this year, leaving a huge and certain market gap. In this context, some Chinese firms are extending from vehicle export to localized manufacturing and technology cooperation.
In July, Subo Technology's first pure-electric tractor for the European market, the eTopas 600, rolled off the line at Steyr Automotive's plant in Austria and began customer delivery, entering markets including Germany, the Netherlands, Austria, Poland and the Czech Republic; the firm also signed a memorandum with DHL to explore intelligent and automated trucking. From product出海 to industrial出海, Chinese new-energy commercial vehicles are turning supply-chain strength into a systematic overseas capability.
