The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has solicited public opinions on five mandatory national standards for automobiles, proposing a dedicated blue-green external indicator light for L3 and higher autonomous-driving vehicles and binding it to the automated-driving status, technology-media reports said on November 4. The move is designed to curb the abuse of autonomous-driving lights by L2 models and is planned for implementation in 2028.
The draft also tightens safety and environmental requirements for innovative vehicle designs, responding to concerns that some firms rush products to market with insufficient testing and validation. Starting January 1, 2027, newly declared innovative-design products must file additional safety and environmental parameters and be brought under access and production-consistency management.
Industry observers said moving regulation earlier will force companies to complete their validation systems and impose hard constraints on "quick-to-market" concepts and marketing hype, guiding the sector toward high-quality development rather than a sheer race for launch speed.
