This year's "Golden September Silver October" peak season has lost its shine, signaling that the market is shifting from high-speed growth to a higher-quality gear, China Youth Daily reported on November 4. About 700 units of a flagship SUV are being shipped to Europe with deliveries expected to begin in January 2027, illustrating how export ambition now rides alongside domestic pressure.
On the technology front, 2026 is also a pivotal year: all-solid-state batteries are entering pilot production, L2 assisted-driving penetration is projected to exceed 70%, and high-speed and urban navigation assist are becoming common on mainstream models priced around 150,000 yuan. Intelligence is no longer an exclusive label of premium cars but a standard capability of mass-market products.
"This year's Chinese car market is not getting worse, but growing in a different way," the report quoted an analyst as saying. Profit-margin compression, tighter regulation and faster divergence are the inevitable friction of an old model exiting. The real opportunity belongs to companies that strengthen safety validation, lower technology cost and build overseas systems. After the gear shift, only those who run more steadily will qualify to run farther.
