The China Society of Automotive Engineers on November 4 released its "Top 10 Automotive Technology Trends for 2027," mapping the breakthroughs and near-term production milestones across power batteries, automotive chips, chassis control, vehicle-to-grid interaction, lightweighting and autonomous driving, People's Daily Overseas Edition and Securities Times reported.
The trends include solid-state cells with energy density around 400Wh/kg entering pilot production; high-safety RISC-V automotive microcontrollers reaching mass-production debut; fusion vehicle motion-control technology spreading from flagship to mainstream models; vehicle-to-grid discharge capacity rising to a daily flexible-regulation level of millions of kilowatts, with more than 100,000 new V2G-capable vehicles expected in 2027; and connected assisted driving moving from demonstration to small-batch factory fitment.
Experts said the ten trends show that China's core technologies for intelligent and connected new-energy vehicles are accelerating from research to industrial landing. In 2026, 22 carmakers had already run research validation of connected assisted-driving systems across eight cities, and the society expects commercial closed-loop formation as vehicle-road-cloud coordination reaches early production.
