China's new-energy commercial-vehicle exports have maintained growth this year, and domestic companies are now exploring localized manufacturing, delivery and operation models as they expand abroad, People's Daily Online reported on November 1.
CAAM data shows commercial-vehicle exports of 1.039 million units in January-September, up 38.8% year on year, of which new-energy commercial-vehicle exports reached 93,000 units, up 45.5%. Industry analysts say NEV going-global is shifting from scale expansion toward quality improvement, requiring stronger technological innovation, branding and local operating capability.
Behind the export strength lies real overseas transition demand: the EU's revised CO2 standards require new heavy-duty vehicles to cut emissions 45% by 2030 and 90% by 2040, and zero-emission trucks must reach about 35% of new sales to hit the target — a gap from today's 4.8% penetration that signals a deterministic market. In July, Sobo Technology's eTopas 600 — its first pure-electric tractor aimed at Europe — rolled off the line at Austria's Steyr Automotive plant and began customer delivery, with vehicles entering Germany, the Netherlands, Austria, Poland and the Czech Republic; Sobo also signed an MoU with DHL Group to explore intelligent, automated trucking.
