With most automakers' third-quarter reports disclosed by October 31, China's new-energy-vehicle makers showed clear performance divergence, with resilient leaders and surging exports as common bright spots, Shanghai Securities News reported on November 1.
Data from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM) shows first-three-quarter NEV production and sales reached 12.483 million and 12.472 million units, both up more than 10% year on year, with the share of new-vehicle sales rising to 53.6%. BYD's Q3 revenue came in at 221.488 billion yuan, up 13.59%, with net profit attributable to shareholders at 10.02 billion yuan, up 28.08%. Geely posted a "volume-price-profit" rise, with Q3 core net profit of 5.21 billion yuan, up 32%.
As domestic demand stabilized, exports have become a fresh profit lever for NEV makers: BYD's overseas sales reached 1.338 million units in the first three quarters, up 92%, while Geely's NEV exports surged 531%. The results confirm a structural shift from "made in China, sold abroad" toward globally distributed manufacturing.
