Beijing's Municipal Bureau of Economy and Information Technology has issued the Beijing Hydrogen Energy Industry Development Implementation Plan (2026-2030), proposing to promote the cumulative adoption of fuel-cell vehicles to break 10,000 units and build over 40 hydrogen refueling stations by 2030, according to a Cailian Press report on November 2.
The plan calls for scaled application across green chemicals, combined heat and power, and other scenarios, with the city's hydrogen industrial chain exceeding 40 billion yuan in scale and driving the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region past 100 billion yuan, building an autonomous, economical, green and safe hydrogen full-industry-chain system across the region.
Analysts said the roadmap strengthens Beijing's positioning in the fuel-cell vehicle and hydrogen economy value chain, complementing the broader electrification push and providing a long-term, low-carbon alternative for heavy-duty and commercial transport.
