Xiaomi's technology committee incubation team showcased the open-source AI device HachimoDock at the 2026 Guanchai Conference, AI Daily reported. With a self-build cost of about 150 yuan, it uses an ESP32-P4 microcontroller and a 2.8-inch 480×640 screen; voice requests are routed through a PC to agents such as Codex and WorkBuddy, while the small display shows a pet avatar synced to task status.
Users can generate components like a Pomodoro timer in natural language and link it to Xiaomi's Miloco as a home-control console. The project has published source code, a bill of materials and assembly tutorials, permitting non-commercial personal replication.
Low-cost open-source hardware is pulling the entry point for Vibe Coding and desktop agents down to the百元 level, making the edge-AI ecosystem more accessible to makers and hobbyists.
The release continues a Chinese trend of transparent, reproducible AI gadgets that lower the cost of experimenting with on-device agents.
