Chinese automakers are shifting from simple vehicle exports to building overseas manufacturing bases, R&D and service networks, CCTV reports. At the recent Hannover Commercial Vehicle Show in Germany, more than 363 Chinese exhibitors made up over 20% of all participants.
BYD's overseas sales reached 188,700 units in August, up 134.6%. China's auto parts suppliers also gained ground, with 17 Chinese firms on the 2026 global top-100 auto parts list — surpassing the U.S. and Germany for the first time. Chinese vehicles now reach over 200 countries and regions.
The shift signals that China's auto industry is moving from product export to systematic, locally rooted global expansion.
