The September 18 edition of Workers' Daily reports that as the Mid-Autumn Festival approaches, the "World Supermarket" of Yiwu is seeing its lantern market enter a sales peak. Lanterns blending seasonally apt elements such as "Jade Rabbit Moon-Watching," "Autumn Moon Blossoms" and "Myriad Lights" are especially favored this year, with order volumes climbing steadily.
The festive-goods surge highlights Yiwu's role as a global source for holiday merchandise: themed lanterns, decorations and gift items flow from its booths to buyers across more than 100 countries and regions. Merchants said this year's guochao (national-trend) designs—merging traditional Chinese imagery with modern aesthetics—are driving stronger repeat orders.
The peak underscores how Yiwu's small-commodity ecosystem quickly pivots to seasonal demand, supplying the world's festivals with short lead times and flexible, small-batch production.
