On September 17, Zhejiang TV's "News In-Depth" reported that the north-side empty-container yard of the Yiwu (Suxi) International Hub Port has been put into use. As a key supporting facility of Ningbo-Zhoushan Port's "sixth port area," the yard can store over 5,000 TEUs, easing foreign-trade enterprises' difficulties with box use and drop-off.
The Suxi hub extends the seaport's functions inland, letting Yiwu—a landlocked county—enjoy harbor-like clearance convenience. The empty-container yard relieves the chronic "box shortage" that has pressured small exporters during peak shipping seasons.
Combined with sea-rail express lines and consolidation warehouses, the upgrade shortens lead times and lowers logistics cost for Yiwu's vast base of small and micro foreign-trade merchants, reinforcing the city's role as a national export barometer.
