On September 17, China FAW and Leapmotor signed agreements at a ceremony in Huzhou, Zhejiang. FAW's Qixin Power (Changchun) Technology and China Auto New Energy Battery Technology each signed an investment intent letter and a technology cooperation agreement with Leapmotor.
Under the Qixin Power intent letter, Leapmotor will act as a strategic investor in Qixin Power's Series A round, strengthening deep synergy in key powertrain areas. The two sides will explore strategic coordination and resource sharing in hybrid engines, e-drive systems and range extenders.
The battery-technology cooperation will advance forward-looking battery R&D and standardized cell adoption, covering solid-state batteries, lithium-rich manganese-based batteries, sodium-ion batteries and LFP ultra-fast charging. Analysts said the tie-up, combined with Leapmotor's recent CSRC-approved private placement of about 6.744 billion yuan, strengthens both its capital base and product pipeline as it scales domestic and overseas sales.
