On September 16, Leapmotor announced it had received formal CSRC approval for a private placement, with the regulator greenlighting the company's plan to issue domestic shares to FAW Equity and Jinyi Hi-Tech, raising about 6.744 billion yuan.
At the 2026 Leapmotor Tech Day the same day, founder, chairman and CEO Zhu Jiangming said the LEAP5.0 vehicle architecture will debut first in a second brand the company will launch next year, describing it as "a product base completely oriented to the future" that delivers unimaginable interior space.
Zhu added that Leapmotor's world model for intelligent driving will, starting in the first quarter of next year, be freely upgraded for 350,000 existing LiDAR-version owners and extended to models priced under 100,000 yuan, signaling a push to democratize advanced driver assistance.
Analysts said the second brand is imminent and, combined with the CSRC-approved fundraising, strengthens Leapmotor's capital and product pipeline as it scales both domestic and overseas sales.
