On September 15, the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM), together with the China Cyberspace Security Association, formally released the "Initiative on Data Security Compliance and Development for Intelligent-Connected Vehicles."
The initiative covers five areas: improving data governance and implementing full-process management; standardizing cross-border data flows to ensure compliant global operations; protecting personal information rights and enhancing user awareness; and related measures to reinforce the industry's data-security compliance foundation.
CAAM said the initiative is designed to help the industry comprehensively consolidate the foundation of data-security compliance and regulate the order of data application and development, as intelligent-connected vehicles generate and process vast amounts of sensitive data.
The release arrives as Chinese NEV exports cross 40% of total vehicle exports and global trade frictions rise, giving automakers a clearer compliance framework for sustainable overseas growth.
