At the 24th Asian Network of Quality conference on September 16, Xiaomi founder, chairman and CEO Lei Jun gave his first systematic disclosure of Xiaomi's quality-management system. As of August 31, Xiaomi had deployed 2,696 test vehicles with cumulative road-test mileage exceeding 40 million kilometers, covering extreme environments such as severe cold, high heat and high altitude.
Lei Jun said testing continues after a model launches, with ongoing generalization testing to accumulate large volumes of real-world operating data. Xiaomi's heavy investment in real-vehicle validation underscores its emphasis on reliability for intelligent electric vehicles.
The disclosure comes as Xiaomi's automotive business scales up production and deliveries, with the company positioning quality and real-world data as core competitive advantages in China's intensely competitive NEV market.
Industry analysts said massive road-test mileage is an important foundation for the reliability of intelligent EVs, and that continuous post-launch generalization testing also accumulates data for subsequent iterative optimization.
