On September 16, Luxeed Automobile announced that its RX model has been granted an L3-level autonomous-driving road test license, with Huawei's Richard Yu (Yu Chengdong) confirming that the vehicle is conducting orderly real-world testing on complex roads such as urban expressways.
The approval marks a milestone for Luxeed's advanced driver-assistance technology, moving from laboratory validation into public-road pilot operation. Industry observers noted that the stringent safety thresholds for L3 licensing underscore the high technical barriers of full-chain vehicle capability required for high-level autonomous driving.
Huawei's deputy chairman said the Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance will focus resources on the Luxeed, Stelato, Maextro and Shangjie brands, while AITO user rights remain unaffected as the Huawei–Seres partnership shifts to an asset-light model.
The development reflects accelerating regulatory and industry progress toward conditional autonomous driving on Chinese public roads, with multiple automakers racing to validate L3 and L4 systems under real-world conditions.
